Our Story

And we’re off…..

We are well into the year and it feels like the pace is fairly steady!

We have a lot on this year and hope that you are able to be part of what is going on.

Please put the following dates in your diary for our Knowledge Cafe sessions with more information to come. Our next two sessions are 5 April & 17 May.  These sessions will have a health and wellbeing focus with speakers being from CAHMS and a adolescent paediatrician.

We will be visiting high schools during youth week which is
26 May – 4 June.
This years theme is “Our voices count; count our voices”.

One of the other projects we are working on over the next 3 months is aCommunications Strategy for young people in the BOP.  It would be great to have your young people’s voices included in this work.  We will put more information out soon.
Have a fantastic month and make sure you check out our 100% SummerHighlights video.
Good times……

100% Summer Project

We ran the Summer project again throughout January and it was an amazing success. With a fantastic crew out there delivering the programme to our local communities, we had a great time. See the link below for a video of the highlights.

Service Provider Feature Article: Recreate NZ (BOP)

Over the past 14 years Recreate NZ has been committed to providing quality and age appropriate youth development opportunities for young people who experience intellectual and physical disability.

We are currently delivering thousands of youth development opportunities across a range of adventure, recreation, social and education programmes. These programmes are aimed at youth and young adults aged between 10-35yo with disability in Auckland, Christchurch, Waikato and now looking into the Bay of Plenty. Our key value is youth supporting youth, learning from each other and working towards a more inclusive New Zealand.

Recreate NZ focuses on experiential learning and meaningful personal growth opportunities for both youth leaders and youth participants. The wide variety of programme offerings, from evening and day programmes, to recreational weekends and week-long adventure expeditions, to life and work skills programmes ensure that there are a multitude of options available for youth. Youth participants develop confidence, self-esteem, friendships, support networks and life skills all in a supportive and encouraging environment. Youth leaders develop skills leading, training and mentoring participants, as well as building meaningful relationships, decision making, team-work and communication skills in a practical setting.

Recreate is currently looking for office space, staff, volunteers, along with engaging with schools, service providers and families to get this all going forward.

Recreate’s National Programmes Coordinator, Nicola will be based in Tauranga on a regular basis and will be more than happy to meet with anyone who wants to find out more about Recreate.
