COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE

At TYDT, we recognises the importance of relationships, collaboration, networking, information and resource sharing amongst service providers achieves better outcomes for young people and the community.

To support the existing ecosystem of the youth development sector and strengthen relationship with service providers and organisations we provide;

Professional Development Training;

  • regular free professional development training for individuals and agencies that work with young people

    • key professional speakers presenting on new and exisiting trends and challenges of young people

    • providing clinical insight and development of necessary soft skills in the workplace

    • opportunity for TYDT and those working with young people to foster and maintain relationship, providing network opportunities for individuals and services


Existing Multi-Agency and Cross-Sector Collaboration;

  • build and strengthen relationship and networking of multi-agency/cross-sector

  • convenes multi-agency/cross-sector to identify and discuss youth development issues and build consensus on vision and innovative solutions

  • ensure there are no unnecessary duplication of initiatives, seeking to work collectively with skills and resources

  • identify and remove barriers for young people navigating systems and necessary services and resources

  • facilitate or manage effective development and delivery of specific services and programmes

  • collating and sharing collaborative research and accurate up-to-date data that is easily accessible


Promote Local Agencies;

  • build a database of every service provider, community centre and organisation that provides a service or resource in Tauranga Moana and the wider Bay of Plenty for young people

  • promote local service providers, community centres, and organisations to young people and the wider community through our communications marketing - to create positive connection with young people, whanau, and wider community


YOUTH AGENCY AND ADVOCACY

TYDT recognises the importance of a strengths-based approach to support and enable positive youth development. TYDT facilitate initiatives that empower young people through youth-adult partnerships, and where there is authentic and shared decision-making. Adults and youth partnering and working alongside as co-creators, leverages the unique abilities and contributions of both groups. Through participation young people can be empowered to engage in leadership.

By rangatahi, for rangatahi, with rangatahi - initiatives to be youth-centred, youth-driven or youth-led with the empowerment of youth voice.

Empowered effective youth consultation, participation and engagement;

  • inclusion in the designing, planning, development and implementation of necessary services, programmes and opportunities required for positive youth development

  • opportunity for selected youth-led initiatives that are devised and implemented by young people

Strengthened connections and participation with young people and local service;

  • building valued relationships with young people and key social environments;

    • youth development providers, health services, mentors, government, practitioners, clinicians, researchers, evaluators, policy-makers, educators, medical doctors, youth workers, social workers and more

    • identifying risk factors - solution-driven in the minimisation or removal of barriers to positive youth development opportunity, resources and services
