100% Summer Series

2023 is the 12th year of the Tauranga Youth Development Team project, 100% Summer. Our main objective is to provide a free, safe, sober, substance-free environment that is engaging, with easy accessibility to attend the event.

100% Summer Series 2023 has been shaped through Tauranga Youth Development surveying young people throughout last year at about what they would like to see in the Bay of Plenty. It was also evident through these results and the latest Whakahou Taketake Vital Update that young people would like more events that cater to them specifically. With this feedback 100% Summer Series 2023 will be providing 2 large events and 1 smaller pop-up event in 3 locations throughout Bay of Plenty during the summer period.l

100% Summer Series is staffed by TYDT, volunteers, community groups. and also employed youth; and usually in partnership with local agencies, community groups and youth workers.

100% Summer Series aims to achieve the following:

  • Provide safe, and substance free events and activites focused on young people aged approx 12-18, with all events still open to the wider community.

  • Ensure events are available and accessible to all young people in the BOP.

  • Promote holistic health, wellbeing and positive youth development - social connection, physical activity.

  • Launching TeenTools 'it's ALL GOOD to ask for help'. A comprehensive website to help young people (and their whanau) with a range of information and access to a large range of local services and national helplines.

  • Collaborative, inclusive and diverse efforts between agency providers in the sector community groups, and young people.

  • Ensure practice and events are feedback informed, with continued improvements based on previous years evaluation forms.

  • Deliver high-quality, culturally responsive and effective events that are free of charge to all participants aimed at strengthening connections between young people, and their communities.
